Allan O'Marra's
Holga Photography
The "Holga" is a cheap, plastic Japanese camera that has become the darling of art photographers. It characteristically shoots pictures that, because of the plastic lens and poorly constructed body, have flares, fall-off, lack of sharpness, distortion, accidental double exposure, etc., normally the bain of photographers. But to an artist, this only represents a challenge and the opportunity for happy accidents. I've added the Holga to my repertoire and present some of my efforts with this unpredictable, but fun camera. Some of the pictures posted were exhibited in annual "toy camera" shows in Prato, Italy in 2001 and 2002. Six new pictures on the Holga IV page will be exhibited in the annual Italian show in the Fall of 2003.
